Keep my computer as is or switch to a new macbook aluminum?
I right now have a Dell xps 420. But im really satisfided with it. Its good but not what i really want. My brother convinced me to buy it. So lately i’ve been intersted in this new macbook that came out by apple. I’m mainly looking for a computer that is great with media preferences. and i like the idea of everything in the mac comes from apple. and not from 3 different componies. I would really like you opinion. And also price is not an opition with the mac.
There are pros and cons with getting a system that is developed by the same company.
The good points like you said are that when everything comes from the same source, it’s more likely that everything was tested to work well together, and that’s Apple’s strength. It guarantees its own products work well together as a consolidated unit. This is good for people who wants everything all pre-packaged and preconfigured to work together as easy as possible and that has little chance they can mess up their own computer. Macs are good for computer newbies, people who are afraid of computers, and people who are too busy to maintain their system but just want to use it like a tool like their phone.
The bad side is that because everything comes from a single company, you are very limited in your options if you want something different. Often when you want something different, you will not find many things that are developed for Macs. A good example of this are games. And because it’s all tied together, if you want to upgrade your machine, you often have to go back to Apple to buy only what they offer instead of all the standard peripherals out there, and because Apple knows you HAVE to buy from them, they are more expensive. And because everything is proprietary and very closed, Macs are not good for geeks who want to trick out their custom system to get it to work just the way they want, people who want to save money, people who want lots of options, and definitely not for hard-core gamers.
So it really depends on what kind of computer user you are:
If you want something all preconfigured and dummy-proof, Macs are good.
If you want lots of software and hardware options, and know how to configure and maintain your system, then get a PC clone.
